Rocks and tides create an array of waterflow patterns. These flow patterns form chreods, a word meaning necessary paths. Working along the coast of Maine from 2003- 2005, Video Artist Paul Ryan produced a series of twenty-one video renderings of these necessary paths of water’, entitled Coastal Water Chreods. The artist sees these chreods as notes scored by nature that can be depicted in video using his Earthscore Notation System. Dancing Copper is one of the series. Silent. See EAI.org for copies of artist’s video. See Earthscore.org for the notation system.
