Barry Salmon

Barry Salmon, MA, is currently an Associate Professor at the New School for Public Engagement. He is a composer of scores for numerous films as well as music for dance, theater, radio, and video art. Festivals, installations, honors and awards include CINE Golden Eagle, Berlin, Brussels, Frankfurt, Sundance, Telluride, and Toronto film festivals; Chicago Museum of Broadcasting, Museum of Modern Art. He has taught courses on Film; Music; Culture; Foundations of Media Theory; Media, Sociology and SportSound and Space. Recent publications include “[RE] Composing for the Films: The Problem of Praxis;” “Framing Noise,” co-authored with Shannon Mattern; “Soundtrack Available: Essays on Film and Popular Music.”
